Commenting Policy

The McGill Tribune seeks to promote a healthy discourse among McGill students and members of the greater McGill Community. We encourage all readers to comment on our articles and to voice their opinions in a respectful manner with regards to other commenters, contributors and staff of the McGill Tribune, and the author of the article.

Comments are not approved prior to a commenter posting on mcgilltribune.com and the views expressed in comments do not reflect those of the Tribune. The McGill Tribune editorial board reserves the right to remove comments without notifying the commenter if the comment meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Excessive or unnecessary profanity, obscenity, or language that disrespects someone on the basis of race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion. Threats or encouragement of violence and/or illegal behavior.
  • Spam, advertisements, or other material that is off topic.
  • Disclosure of personal and private information about any individual, including (but not limited to) the writer of the piece or the writer of another comment.
  • Self-promotion. Irrelevant comments designed to draw attention to a commenter’s own enterprise will be deleted.
